On Sept 13, 2019, a sight not seen since the 1920’s will exist, the largest assembly of Moline Universal Tractors and implements in nearly a century. The event will be held Sept 13-15, 2019 at the Joslin IL showgrounds of the Geneseo AE&TA and will feature a number of Moline Plow Company Universals and implements of all models including a rare orchard model. This is a working farm show and live demonstrations will take place showing the versatility of the Universal tractor; it is also the closest major all colors show to the original factory. All owners are cordially invited to bring and display their Universals, implements and Moline Plow artifacts in this once in a century event. In addition, there will be displays of Moline Plow Company artifacts and memorabilia.
Ken Johnson made this video for the reunion covering the history of the Moline Plow Company. It is an excellent video with many images from Loren Book’s collection.
In addition, a limited run of MPco products have been created as a fundraiser for the event including a high quality replica dealers sign.
As part of the Reunion, a serial number registry project has begun to build a data base of serial numbers in an attempt to help classify and date tractors. To aid in this and planning for the event, as well to gauge interest in a tour or banquet we have a pre-registration form available.
The 58th annual AE&TA show will be held at the clubs grounds at Joslin IL, 10 minutes from scenic Geneseo IL and 15 minutes from the historic Quad Cities metro area of Moline, East Moline, Rock Island, Silvis, Davenport and Bettendorf, just east of where I-80 crosses the Mississippi and just minutes from I-88. This is also only 20 miles from where the Universal was built at what would later become the Rock Island Farmall Works and 19 miles from the headquarters and implement factory.
The show is a working farm show and features acres of corn to pick, beans to combine and fields to plow. This is an all weather site on sandy, well drained soil, and free parking. A kids area includes educational activities, their first tractor ride and the corn pile.
The show also features the usual activities such as threshing, corn shelling, a sawmill, blacksmith shop, broom maker, weavers and wood workers; as well as unusual features like check row corn planting and cultivating demonstrations, the unique Butterworth combined threshing machine/binder and demonstrations by a rotary potato digger and the only functional Heider motor cultivator.
The clubs train circles the show grounds and people movers provide transportation around the grounds and to the fields for demonstrations. for those with need, golf carts, utv’s and scooters are permitted and chauffeured golf carts are available. Loading docks on site.
